1. Our Commitment to Safeguarding
Nebulexe Trinity Foundation is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for all children and adults at risk who engage with our services. We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and are dedicated to promoting the welfare and protecting the rights of all individuals involved with our organisation.

2. Protecting Children and Adults at Risk
We recognise our duty to safeguard children (anyone under 18 years of age) and adults at risk (individuals aged 18 or over who may be unable to protect themselves from harm or exploitation). We are committed to preventing abuse, neglect, and exploitation and will take all necessary steps to ensure that those we work with are kept safe from harm.

3. Responsibilities of Trustees, Volunteers, and Staff
All trustees, volunteers, and staff have a responsibility to:

  • Understand and adhere to this safeguarding policy.
  • Treat all individuals with respect and dignity.
  • Be vigilant for signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Act promptly and appropriately if they have concerns about the welfare of a child or adult at risk.
  • Attend safeguarding training as required.
    Trustees have additional responsibilities to ensure that the organisation complies with all relevant safeguarding legislation and best practice.

4. Recognising Concerns
Signs of abuse or neglect may include physical injuries, changes in behaviour, poor hygiene, withdrawal, or unexplained fear. It is important that all concerns, no matter how minor they may seem, are taken seriously and assessed appropriately.

5. Reporting Procedures
If you have a safeguarding concern:

  • Do not delay in reporting it.
  • Report your concern immediately to the designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within Nebulexe Trinity Foundation.
  • If the DSL is not available or the concern involves the DSL, report to another senior member of staff or trustee.
  • In cases of immediate danger, contact the emergency services on 999.
  • Keep a clear, factual record of your concern using the organisation’s safeguarding reporting form.
    We will follow up all reports in line with statutory guidance and involve external agencies as necessary.

6. Confidentiality
All safeguarding concerns will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis to protect the individual involved or to comply with legal duties. We will ensure that information is stored securely in accordance with data protection laws.

7. Recruitment and Training
Nebulexe Trinity Foundation is committed to safe recruitment practices, including:

  • Carrying out Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate.
  • Taking up references before appointing trustees, staff, or volunteers.
  • Providing induction and ongoing safeguarding training to all staff and volunteers.

8. Responding to Concerns
When a safeguarding concern is raised, Nebulexe Trinity Foundation will:

  • Listen carefully and take the individual seriously.
  • Provide reassurance that the matter will be taken seriously and handled appropriately.
  • Follow the reporting procedures outlined above.
  • Support the individual affected and ensure their safety and wellbeing.

9. Emergency Situations
In an emergency where an individual is at immediate risk of harm, the priority is to ensure their safety by contacting the emergency services immediately (dial 999). Following this, the safeguarding lead must be informed as soon as possible.

10. Reviewing the Policy
This safeguarding policy will be reviewed annually or more frequently if there are changes in legislation, guidance, or organisational practice. Feedback from trustees, staff, volunteers, and service users will be considered in the review process.
